The Amsterdam Museum was called the Amsterdams Historisch Museum. It is in the old orphanage between Kalverstraat and Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal.

The museum has been located since 1975 in a building that was originally constructed in 1580 as Amsterdam's orphanage.[1]

The museum has paintings and old photographs and a cafe.
