Anophthalmus hitleri

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anophthalmus hitleri is a small brown beetle that lives in caves in Slovenia. The bug is eyeless, and likely a predator. In 1937, it was named after Adolf Hitler. For this reason, it is sometimes called the Hitler Bug.

The beetle only occurs in a few cav systems in Slovenia. Oskar Scheibel bought a beetle in 1933. He saw that it was unknown at the time, and described it.
