Gareth David-Lloyd (born 28 March 1981) is a Welsh actor. He is best known for his role as Ianto Jones in the British science fiction television programme Torchwood.

Biography[change | change source]

He was born Gareth David Lloyd in Bettws, Newport.[1] His first acting role was as a robot in a school play. When he was a teenager, he joined the Gwent Young People's Theatre in Abergavenny and The Dolman Youth Theatre in Newport.

While he was there, he appeared in several plays, including Henry V, in which he played the most important character. He studied at Coleg Gwent and then trained at the National Youth Theatre, before moving to Reading.
