History [change]
1980 - 1993 [change]
The IONIS Education Group's history starts in 1980 when IONIS's founder Marc Sellam founds the Institut supérieur européen de gestion group in Paris with the intention to offer a business school with an alternative organization and curriculum compare to other grandes écoles[7]. In 1986, ISEG launches its settlement policy by creating a regional campus in Bordeaux followed by those of Toulouse (1987), Lille (1988), Strasbourg (1989), Nantes (1989) and Lyon (1990). In 1993, there is the creation of the Institut supérieur européen de formation par l'action, business school in three years after the Baccalaureate[8].
1993 - 1998 [change]
In 1997, the group, originally named Intelsup[9], buy the École pour l'informatique et les techniques avancées (university in computer science created in 1984) and takes its final legal form. During the years 1997-1998, the group buy the Institut supérieur de gestion (business school created in 1967) and the Institut polytechnique des sciences avancées (university in aeronautical and space engineering).

In 1999, the group creates the École pour l'informatique et les nouvelles technologies which purpose is to train computer science by practical cases and then E-Artsup in 2001, school of digital design and multimedia. The group adopts the name of IONIS Education Group in 2002, when all the schools start to teach in five years after Baccalaureate. In 2003, the group enters in a new sector, the Biotechnology, by creating the school Institut sup'biotech de Paris. ICS Bégué, a school inaugurated in 1957 which trains accountants, is incorporated into the group in 2004 as well as the École spéciale de mécanique et électricité (university in engineering founded in 1905) in 2006. The years 2007 and 2008 saw the introduction into regions through the opening campuses in Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Nancy, Nantes, Nice, Montpellier, Strasbourg and Toulouse. In 2009, the group launched IONIS Executive learning centered on the Validation des Acquis de l'Experience and the IONIS School of Technology and Management which provides training on both technical and managerial aspects. In 2010, ISEG turns into a group of three different and independent schools in finance, marketing - communication and business. In 2011, Sup'Internet, graduate school of Internet, is opened[10].
