Imaginal disc

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Insects have a three-stage development. They go from egg to larva to final imago (adult insect).

In the pupa larval structures are broken down and rebuilt as adult structures. The imaginal disks are a key part of this. From them the adult structures are formed.[1]
