Johnny Ellis

Johnny Ellis (March 13, 1960 – February 9, 2022) was an American politician. He was a member of the Alaska Senate from 1992 to 2017. He was a member of the Alaska House of Representatives from 1986 through 1992. Ellis was born in Springfield, Missouri. He was a member of the Democratic Party. Ellis was the state senate's majority leader from 2009 until 2011.

In 2016, Ellis was diagnosed with prostate cancer and multiple sclerosis.[1] He was also openly gay.[1]

Ellis died on February 9, 2022 from cardiac arrest caused by his cancer and multiple sclerosis at his brother's home in Harrison, Arkansas at the age of 61.[2]
