Leander Vyvey (born 21 Dec 1989) is a Belgian actor[1][2][3] and retired professional kite surfer.[4] He had national and international victories between 2007 and 2009. In his acting career he is most widely known the role of Lukas in Sky UK's "Then You Run[5]".

Early life & Professional career[change | change source]

Leander started his career as a professional kitesurfer, winning national and international competitions from 2007 to 2009. He was the Belgian Freestyle Champion and won the Super Grand Slam Kiteboard Pro World Cup in Italy in 2008. [6][7][8] His career included several serious accidents, such as a crash at Big Bay, South Africa, in 2007, and a major injury in Maui, Hawaii, in 2009 ending his involvement in the World Tour.[9][10] Leander ran his pro center in Dakhla, Western Sahara and got involved in various kitesurf related businesses.

In 2013, after an accident that left him unconscious, Vyvey made a surprising pivot to acting. He trained in London, and later at The Second City in Chicago. Leander made his acting debut in the feature film Rescue Under Fire in 2016 and is best known for his role as Lukas in Sky UK’s Then You Run.

Leander is fluent in several languages and supports charitable initiatives focused on ocean conservation. Despite his public career, he remains largely inactive in media endeavours, and little is known about his personal life.
