María Antonia Avilés Perea

María Antonia Avilés Perea (born 28 June 1944 Murcia) is a Spanish politician. From 1999 to 2004, she was a member of the European Parliament. [1]

She has a degree in economic and business sciences from the Complutense University of Madrid and a diploma in French from the Official Language School of Zaragoza.

From 1979 to 1983, she was councilor of Zaragoza town hall for the Democratic Center Union (UCD). After the collapse of her party, she joined the Popular Party , where she was Secretary of Studies and Programs and Member of the Aragon Regional Committee . She was elected deputy in the European Parliament elections of 1999 . From 1999 to 2004, she was a member of the Commission for Women's Rights and Equal Opportunities of the European Parliament,[2] and of the Delegation for Relations with the Palestinian Legislative Council ,

From 2004 to 2007 she was a member of the Board of Directors of the Aragonese Radio and Television Corporation.[3] She was elected deputy in the 2007 elections to the Courts of Aragon , where she has been a member of the Science, Technology and University Commission of the Courts of Aragon . In the 2011 Courts elections, she was not re-elected.
