On the Beach (novel)

On the Beach is a novel by Nevil Shute,[1] a British author who emigrated to Australia. It was published in 1957. It tells about the world after atomic war. Last people live in Australia and wait for coming of the radioactive cloud. When they start being sick of the radiation, they commit suicide.

A movie based on the book was made in 1959. Gregory Peck and Ava Gardner starred in it.[2]
