Shinmei shrines are shinto shrines where Amaterasu is worshipped. The most important Shinmei shrine is Ise Grand Shrine.[1] Other shinmei shrines are "branch shrines" of Ise Grand Shrine.[1] Shinmei shrines, Tenjin shrines, Inari shrines and Hachiman shrines are the most common types of shrines.
