Douglas Adam's creationist puddle analogy is critical of the anthropic principle, not supportive[change source]

While this is a useful and relevant source when discussing fine tuning/the anthropic principle, Adams does not attempt to sum up the anthropic principle with the creationist puddle -- instead he is critical of it. The puddle believes the hole in the ground must have been made for it, whereas in actual fact we know that a puddle will form within any hole in the ground, regardless of its shape. Therefore the anthropic principle seems absurd. Adams is saying that humanity and life on Earth would adapt to whatever Earth we ended up with, not that Earth was specifically made for the human race specifically as we are now. 2A00:23C8:830A:8801:1479:B2E7:AD46:D6DF (talk) 16:49, 14 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
