i am just doing a simple definition of denotation and connotation, for the kids that need to research this for their homework (like me!) denotation ; the simple meaning of a word. for example, its just a visual description of what you see EXAMPLE; *picture of a cross* the denotation of this is a brown cross.

connotation; an idea or feeling which a word makes you feel EXAMPLE; *picture of a cross* the connotation of this example is that this cross represents christianity, jesus, church , ect.
