This page is likely to attract vandalism. (See history) Should this page be partially locked? -- 李博杰  | Talk contribs 07:05, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it is needed. This page is vandalised only around once every month. Unless it is a very serious problem (a lot of vandalism in a week or so), the page doesn't need to be protected. Chenzw  Talk  07:57, 2 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Sources[change source]

This page has been here since 2008 and still no sources? That's very poor. People don't read a page to get editors' opinions, they read it to get reliable information. It is the sources which provide that guarantee. Macdonald-ross (talk) 15:33, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Image choice...[change source]

Hello all, what about replacing the current image (Hitler & Mussolini) with a different one?

  • Dictatorship is not something associated specifically with Word War II; it has existed beforehand, it existed afterwards
  • Dictatorship isn't something associated with Eurpe. in particular

When I think about modern-day dictators, I think more of Idi Amin, Saparmyrat Nyýazow, or Pol Pot, and not necessarily of Hitler or Mussolini.--Eptalon (talk) 22:00, 13 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Eptalon Yea I agree, and those (Mussolini) are fascist(s) (not direct dictatorship, if you get what I am trying to say) , isn't that diiferent from dictatorship? Personally, I think We should sway from using images of individuals, and instead use other pictures if possible --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 22:02, 13 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Look at the history of Africa, since about 1940/1950, you'll find 4-5 people that easily qualify as dictators, look at the countris in Asia, in the last 100 years or so, there are easily 3-4 candidates. Perhaps a gallery, with at least one dictator, from the last 50-odd years, for each continent? (Barring the obvious: Stalin, Hitler, Mussoli)? --Eptalon (talk) 22:16, 13 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yea, Good Idea, that'll work then. So it's not directly aimed at one country, but many. --Tsugaru Let's Talk! :) 🍁 22:19, 13 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I replaced the image, with a gallery. I also mentioned that dictatorship doesn't need to be bad in itself. We can of course discuss the choices taken. Still underrepresented: Central/North America (Ecuador - Guillermo Rodríguez Lara, 1972-79; El Salvador, Maximiliano Hernández Martínez, 1932-1966), Japan/Philippines/Inodnesia(?)- Remember: Dictatorship needs to have been classified as such by reliable sources, and ideally, it ewnded after 1950/1960. And of course. References... --Eptalon (talk) 16:03, 15 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]
