Why electronvolts and ergs in Simple English?[change source]

Do we really need particle physics discussions in Simple English? Do we need to learn obsolet rements like the cgs system? Metric1000 00:14, 2 Feb 2005 (UTC)

I have no idea what GCSE is, or why it's in parenthesis in places.

It should either go away, or it should be explained. It is very much not obvious.
