Lute and Vikings?[change source]

I am concerned over accuracy. The line that got to me was a reference to a Viking lute: "the six-string Scandinavian lut (lute) became popular wherever the Vikings had been". Now it is possible the Vikings did encounter the lute/Oud since they did reach the Byzantine Empire. But the claim they spread it around is far-fetched, considering that the lute didn't make it to England until after 1066. If the lute had arrived earlier, it would have made it into Old English, of which there is no surviving texts that support the existence in that world.Jacqke (talk) 02:45, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
