Questions[change source]

aka. Something seems lost in the translation here

Several points in the article seem a little cloudy to me. If I am not entirely certain what is being said, I imagine there may be others also confused.

The event[change source]

  • It was a peaceful demonstration: What was it a demonstration of? What were the people demonstrating for? who was demonstrating? was it actually a demonstration or was it more of a ceremony celebrating the gate?
  • openning a gate. While on the subject of the gate, opening a gate seems like there was a gate there that had been closed and now it isn't. The context seems to indicate they are more likely creating or building a gate by cutting open a section of the fence and constructing a gate there.
  • Who is Otto von Habsburg? It says Pozsgay is a minister (member of the politburo and Minister(secretary) of State it actually seems) of Hungary, but who is von Habsburg (actually, I found this one: Archduke von Habsburg, Crown Prince of Austria and president of the International Paneuropean Union)
  • symbolically opened - opened as a symbol of .. something.. Symbolically is a realy big word.
  • Were the German citizens living in .. austria or hungary? (it also isn't clear which side was fleeing to which side without looking at a map. It just says into the west.) Were the citizens told while in East Germany that this was going on and someone yelled out "Road trip!"? A little of both? It it even known how this was worked out?

I leave these questions open to anyone who can clear up what is said. I also added a OWebsites link to a write up about remembering the event that does clear up some of the points here (and thankfully is in English so I could actualy read it).-- Creol(talk) 16:36, 18 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
