fals...very fals. he is born in balkh. balkh is a city in Afghanistan. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.108.3.118 (talkcontribs) 14:25, October 14, 2007 (UTC)

Afghanistan did not exist before the 18th century and was recognized as a country until the 20th century. During the 13th century, Balkh was considered Persian since it was part of Khorasan. -- Creol(talk) 17:13, 18 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think this page should be renamed Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Balkhi-Rumi (as on the main Wikipedia) and be a redirect from 'Mevlana' and 'Rumi'. It should also be linked from the Islamic Mystics section of the Mysticism page. Janbkr 17:04, 12 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, that would be much better. 207.157.65.88 (talk) 17:16, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Major amendment[change source]

This page shall have to be merged with the stub on Hazrat i Mevlana Rumi that I created later not realising this existed--and first of all, I shall have to spend some time to fix this larger article which needs a lot of work on it. This will take me quite some time, and I shall spend the better part of next week on this. I think Rumi is Rumi and should remain as such, his birth/origins in Balkh/Afghanistan bear little or no reflection on his lifetime in Konya, Turkey and his universal poetry/art. I would also request any editors working on this article to not kindly just copy and paste stuff from 2-3 sites which are verifiable, but to try to write something of good quality themselves thanksHamneto (talk) 06:32, 4 November 2012 (UTC)Hamneto[reply]

Attn: User:Osiris --A bit of basic work done here and shall come back to it later now, I think some sort of shape and text is emerging and I also need to look up notes and fill in further references. I have also merged and linked all other references and cross-references to this article, now. Hope its better and more comprehensible now. It needs to be simplified further and I hope some of the other senior editors shall help out with that please, thanksHamneto (talk) 10:31, 4 November 2012 (UTC)Hamneto[reply]
