Title[change source]

The name "Sino-Vietnamese characters" is a translation of Hán Nôm that I found in this dictionary. The word Hán Nôm is used to refer to the set of characters that the Han-Nom Institute has submitted to Unicode, as you can see here. The focus of this article is computer encoding, but every Vietnamese I have talked to knows what Hán Nôm is. So the word clearly has broader application. It is not always easy to tell whether a character is being used to write Chinese or Vietnamese. So there are many situations where it convenient to use a term like Hán Nôm or "Sino-Vietnamse character". Kauffner (talk) 00:24, 19 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Charts[change source]

If the audience for simple English is people who speak English as a second language, wouldn't that suggest greater reliance on charts rather than less? The "Readings" chart explained how these characters are constructed and what thier purpose is.[1] Tasty love salad (talk) 22:44, 19 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I re-added the charts and put some more explanation in the opening. IMO, the readings chart is easily the more important of the two. I moved the Unicode chart to the end so that it is now out of the way of those who are not interested in this type of detail. Tasty love salad (talk) 09:02, 23 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
