False impression?

This article might give a false impression:

• The majority of slaves went to South America or the Carribean; North America was the exception
• The idea of a "white slave" was fairly recent; most of them were in the Ottoman Empire, probably (see en:White slavery)

So, the big question for me is the following:

• What aspect should we focus on, and how can we have as little overlap with slavery as possible. Also: historic prospective, or modern one?
