Requested check[change source]

Not even close to being simple. I am using Wikipedia:How_to_write_Simple_English_pages as a reference, especially Simple Sentence Structure.

Here are some examples:

  • "Because continuum mechanics assumes that the loaded deformable body behaves as a continuum, these internal forces are distributed continually within the volume of the material body."

Is that in subject-verb-object style? No. Could it be? Yes.

  • "Classical models of continuum mechanics assume an average force and do not properly think about "geometrical factors", which are important to describe how stress is shared out and how energy builds up during the continuum."

I'm not even sure what you mean by "properly think". Besides, a model cannot think anyway. Similar to the first sentence where mechanics "assumes". This kind of personification is not clear or simple writing. In addition, that is a very long and complicated sentence. It has a Reading Ease score of 28.7, so it is far from simple. Even if I replace technical vocabulary with a simple two syllable "foobar", the score is 40.8 and therefore nowhere near simple.

  • "In more formal words"

What is formal about them? And, why is that even necessary to add? It adds no useful information to the article.

  • "Specifically, it measures the intensity of the internal forces acting between the particles in the deformable body across imaginary internal surfaces."

"Stress" does not measure anything. Devices or people measure things.

Then, there is the vocabulary. Not going to get into that because the prose is so convoluted and needs a total rewrite first.

This is helpful. I am on it. Racepacket (talk) 23:03, 30 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bibliography[change source]

Is the bibliography necessary for this article? The books were not consulted when writing it and the long list of university level books clutters the page for simple readers. --Thrasymedes (talk) 12:59, 22 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
