Usage[change source]

This template creates an external link to the information page for a Quebec municipality at the Ministère des Affaires municipales, des Régions et de l’Occupation du territoire (M.A.m.R.O.t., at mamrot.gouv.qc.ca). The Ministry website catalogs basic statistical information about each municipality in Quebec, including the name, population, surface area, administrative region, and regional county municipality (MRC).

Description of parameters[change source]

  • first unnamed parameter: This is the geographic code, which can be:
    five-digit number, for a municipality
    three-digit number, for a regional county municipality (use with type=mrc)
    two-digit number, for an administrative region (use with type=region)
    five-character alphanumeric, for a borough (use with type=arrondissement)
To look it up:
  1. Go to the Répertoire des municipalités page, and type the name of the municipality in the Municipalité: field, then click on the "Chercher" button. If successful, the resulting page will show the Code géographique.

Optional parameters
  • text : The link text. By default, this is "Geographic code ##### in the official Répertoire des municipalités"
  • type : Can be municipalite for a municipality (or omit, as this is the default); mrc for a regional county municipality; region for an administrative region; arrondissement for a borough
