The Scarlet Letter is a book by Nathaniel Hawthorne. It was first published on March 16, 1850. The setting of the story is in the stern 17th century New England. It is a story of adultery, its punishment and results. It is about a woman called Hester who commits adultery with a preacher. It is a very popular book and many movies have been made of it.
