Amanohashidate is a sandbar which is in Miyazu city in Kyoto Prefecture in Japan. Amanohashidate is one of the three most famous Japanese sights.


Famous place in the area[change | change source]

Kaisenbashi (廻旋橋)[change | change source]

Kaisenbashi is Revolving Bridge. This bridge turns go degrees when ships go a waterway and it connects Amanohashidate and Monju area. The bridge was built in 1923, and that time this turned by hand. But now electric one was rebuilt in 1960 because many ships comes.[1]

Amanohashidate View Land (天橋立ビューランド)[change | change source]

It is the viewpoint stands on the top of Mt.Monju and you can see special Amanohashidate here. That has some rides such as a Ferris Wheel, so young people and old people can enjoy.

Amanohashidate Shrine (天橋立神社)[change | change source]

Some famous historical people are enshrined sat this shrine. Toyoueno Okami is enshrined at the front and Okawa Daimyojin is enshrined at the right side of the shrine and Hachidai Ryuo is enshrined at the left side. This place is popular power spot, so many people visit here.

Kasamatsu Park (傘松公園)[change | change source]

Kasamatsu Park has a viewpoint where you can overlook Amanohashidate. You can take a chair lift or a cable car to Kasamatsu Park. [2]

Naname Ichimonji[change | change source]

Naname Ichimonji is the scene which we can see from Kasamatsu-koen Park on the north of Amanohashidate. "Ichi" is one and Naname is slanting in English. "Ichi" is "一" in Chinese characters. So the scene looks like slanting "一".

Hiryukan (flying dragon)[change | change source]

Hiryukan is the scene which we can see from mount Monju on the Southof Amanohashidate. Hiryukan means the scene of flying dragon.

Ichijikan[change | change source]

Ichijikan is the scene which we can see from Ouchitouge-Ichijikan-koen Park on the west of Amanohashidate. The scene looks like "一". "一" is "Ichi" in Japanese. "Ichi" is one in English.

Sesshukan[change | change source]

Sesshukan is the scene which we can see from the east side of Amanohashidate. Sesshu is an artist. He painted "Amanohashidate-zu" . This picture is oainted from the east side of Amanohashidate. So the scene is called Sesshukan.


Problem about cultural scenery[change | change source]

There are some problems about cultural scenery at Amanohashidate. [4]

Erosion[change | change source]

Amanohashidate is in danger of disappearing due to erode in recent years. As a solution,prefectural goverment is setting banking sand bank(堆砂堤) on sandbar.(砂州)

Pine trees[change | change source]

Pine tree was in danger of extinction due to pine tree worm outbreak at one time.Now,torch keep health.

Driftwoods[change | change source]

Because of heavy rain,there are many driftwoods at Amanohashidate.
