Beppu city is famous for its hot springs. 8 million tourist visited there from all over the world every year. Beppu is called "NAPOLI OF THE EAST" from the city of landscape. Geothermal power generation has been carried out there, and hot springs have been used in various industries. [1]

Beppu hot spring[change | change source]
Beppu hot spring is located in the center of the town, and there is a station near, so it is convenient for traffic. When the night has come, restautant and Beppu Tower glitter. It is such a lively place.
Hamawaki hot spring[change | change source]
Hamawaki hot spring is located in the east of the town. It consist of a large number of small hot springs, and famous for the sea being near.
Kankaiji hot spring[change | change source]
Kankaiji hot spring is historical hot springs. It is located in the slope of the mountain, so we can look around the Gulf of Beppu and the town. There are many recreation facilities.
Horita hot spring[change | change source]
It is located more mountain side than Kankaiji hot spring. There is much quantity of hot water, so divide hot water into other hot springs.
Myoban hot spring[change | change source]
The hot spring is famous for obtaining alum. It is effective in neuralgia and akin disease. There are many hot spring cure guests. The scene hut which was made of stone lined is unique.
Kannawa hot spring[change | change source]
It is popular with families because there are private hot springs. We can taste distinctive cuisines using the hot springs of steam. There is a hot spring shrine worshiping God of hot spring.
Sibaseki hot spring[change | change source]
It is spa town located along the river. It's famous for the fact that Emperor Daigo and Godaigo was bathing there.
Kamegawa hot springs[change | change source]
It is a spa town located by the sea, and Hot Springs Museum exists there. It is famous for its SUNAYU which is to warm up to bury the body in the beach.
Beppu-San-Syo [3][change | change source]
There are scenic spots in Beppu composed of Hotoke-Zaki, Lake-Shidaka, Valley-Uchiyama. Lake-Shidaka is the most popular. Family and couples enjoy the nature of Beppu. There are many quiet places because there are away from Beppu city.

Beppu has an aquarium called "UMI-TAMAGO" . It is very popular in Japan, and many people visit the aquarium. The mean of "UMI-TAMAGO" is "EGGS OF THE SEA". The performance of Walrus is very interesting. A monkey park are nearby the aquarium and, both place are enjoyable.

Beppu is well known in the bamboo works, and it is made of bamboo in Oita. Many daily necessities are made of bamboo every day. It is popular as souvenirs of Beppu for foreign traveler.

The study about Electricity power generation using the hot springs prosper in Beppu. Beppu has a lot of institute in Japan. This power generation is expected as a clean energy.

Beppu bay is very calm and Beppu is famous for aquaculture. Particularly, the fish called " SEKI-AJI" or" SEKI-SABA" is popular in Japan. Beppu has a big aquarium "UMI-TAMAGO", it is also popular.

The world famous pianist, Martha Argerich, holds a concert with many musicians every year in Beppu. The reason why it begun, when she ever visited Beppu, she liked beautiful scenery and hot spring. This music festival has three concepts, 'FOSTERING' 'ASIA' 'CREATION'.
Beppu Christmas Fantasia [10][change | change source]
Large festival is performed in Beppu when it comes to Christmas time. Popular artists play on stage, and various shops is opened. When it is night, fireworks go off in Beppu Bay and shine with Christmas illuminations.
