The Hiroshima Municipal Baseball Stadium was once the home of Hiroshima Toyo Carp. [1] Construction of the stadium started on July 24, 1957. It took five months to build it.

Features of The Stadium[change | change source]

This Stadium was the smallest in a baseball stadium of the professional baseball. (Left Right field 91.4m center field 115.8m) So,there was much number of home-runs in this baseball stadium. This is the big characteristic of this baseball stadium. In addition, because there is not a roof this stadium is rarely used in the meeting of the rainy day. It was said that this baseball stadium seemed to have the light of 2,300,000 candles first.

The baseball stadium was damaged twice in 1964 and 1975. In 1964, a disturbance happened about a play of Anan. The angry audience damaged a baseball stadium. A broadcasting studio in this stadium was damaged in particular. In 1975, a fighting between players happened and the excited audience damaged a baseball stadium.In 1990, the man who disliked an enemy team climbed up the fence and wore a drop curtain which criticized the team.

After closing[change | change source]

In 2009, Hiroshima Toyo Carp moved Home Ground from this stadium to MAZDA zoom-zoom stadium Hiroshima. After that, this stadium was used for high school baseball by 2010. This stadium was pulled down from November, 2010 to February 28, 2012. Now, there is nothing in a site of this stadium. Sanfrecce Hiroshima wants Hiroshima city to build a new soccer stadium there.
