Origami is a japanese amusement and that's tool.

When the process of paper making was passed from China to Japan in the seventh century, the process and material was changed considerably in Japan. Japanese paper was not able to be torn even when people folded up and widen it. Japanese paper was flexible and beautiful. A different culture was created by a unique paper called Japanese paper. The word called Origami grew up out of that.

Origami was not popular when it began, but, when people was writing a letter and wrap up something with paper, origami may have already begun in Japan.

In the eighteenth century, origami, folded paper cranes and kinds of ships, was introduced as a design of costume and was often drawn onto Japanese woodblock prints. Origami has spread quickly since this time. One hundred years later, a book written about origami was published. Then origami culture was created. Although the then origami was often made by children, origami was also made by many adults. There were a lot of ways to fold origami.

In Meiji era, origami became a teaching material in primary school. In this time, a lot of nameless artists were creating many ways to fold origami. But in those days, because origami was made a point of formal way, many people were not valuing about the creation of artists. But in today, the different ways to fold origami is valued. Their ways to fold are very unique. Origami is popular as a grown up hobby and now there are many people who love origami. (254)

Origami is played on holding with a paper. "Ori" means folding and "gami" means a paper. You know, a paper plane is one of Origami. Basically, Origami don't use a paste, scissors and other tools. There are two basic folds, "a valley fold" and "a mountain fold." "A valley fold" is folded the the paper forward onto itself. "A mountain fold" is folded the paper behiond itself.When you fold origami, you combine these basic folds.

If you return the folded paper to the flat paper, it would make creases. Creases can be the mark at the next folding step. Sometimes, creases can be also the outline of the finished work. You have to crease the paper clearly because the incomplete folding makes a gap at the finished work.

The manual books are often used if people do not know how to make any figures. The manual books have particular paragraph and plain pictures about how to play origami. These pictures are drawn origami what have creases and arrows. You can fold to direction of arrows and find marks of creases.

There are many applied folds. For example, “wet-folding” is popular applied fold. This fold is created by Akira Yoshizawa. He exerted to popularize origami all over the world. This fold is used the wet paper. The wet paper enables to make a delicate work from a geometric work. And other folds, “accordion or pleat fold” “blintz fold” “inside reverse fold” and many etc folds make fine and close works. (250)

Usually, Origami is used square special paper. But something people use different paper by works. For example if we make hat or paper gun by Origami, people use news paper. Rectangular also use paper. This way is famous in Japan. And in works, people use paper money. Paper money can use their design in works. It can make pieces more beautiful.

Recently, many kind of origami is sold by shops. The shop sells different size origami and colorful origami. Usually origami is 15 centimeter, but the shop sells 5 centimeter and 7 centimeter too. Now more than 1000 kind of Origami is sold in Japan. And transparent Origami is sold too.

Many people use this Origami, but people who want to make Origami more specialized do not use this. They use Origami which they improved. When experts needed pentagon or octahedron or some special polyhedron to use Origami, people can get it by cutting square paper. They have many special cutting ways to cut Origami. One of this is called wet-folding. This technique can cut paper easily. The experts sometimes cut Origami and stick gold foil and do many things by one self. Complex works is requiring this Origami. So Origami does not need square special paper. If people have paper which do not use, people can do Origami in own way.(252)
