Event

There is comic market in the one of the big events that otaku performs. We are called popular name “comike” or "comiketto” . It is world that comic market preparations society sponsors greatest coterie magazine spot sale society. A coterie magazine is the magazine which the person of the same hobby contributes a fund and made. The comic market of every year August and December is held twice a year in Tokyo Kokusaitenjijo. A holding period is three days mainly. There is the similar event in U.S.A. , but the scale difference with the comic market is still big. Various coterie lovers exhibit my own article, and the comic market distributes it and interchanges. There is a wide genre. There are coterie magazines by lovers such as comics, an animated cartoon, a game, public music, a fan coterie magazine, the gosurori clothes of the idol group of it unexpectedness, costume play clothes, handicraft accessories, coterie hardware, a doll by the doll writer, etc. However, They have the problems. They achieved a professional debut while an amateur writer continued participation to the comic market, and the person who sentenced a coterie writer to an occupation appeared. A boundary with an amateur and the professional becomes vague.

Otagei

They call a fan Ota, as for them, the unique performance that they perform is transcribed into Otagei. “Otagei” is an act to support the idol whom a fan performs in the concerts such as idols and a road performance. There are various kinds for the act, and the movement is unique. Because it is a voluntary act by the fan, you do not need to perform it even if they go, but, as for the consideration to the circumference, it is necessary. They get into the world of oneself and drive recklessly, and it may be regarded as an annoying act. It becomes the purpose of the event arrival to do Otagei, and there is it when they interfere with the person who wants to hear the song of the idol. It is hated for most of visitors who want to enjoy music and the performance of the idol purely.

History

"Oaku" is a word that chiefly indicates a person absorbed in the subculture with Animated cartoons, idols, road, trains, buses, and the fleets, computer games, and personal computers. Begining 1980, otaku said Byo-ki meaning of illness or Nizi-Kon. It is meaning of complex of secondry world but Mr.Turuta who is programmer of editorial department start to use otaku. Otaku come from the Japanese homonymy word otaku meant parson's house.

Newer meaning

Otaku divide into 2 types. ①Consumed Otaku means most income and time of leisure spent on object of obsession. ②Psychology otaku means people who want to make their body known to others. It was often used in 1969 for a Japanese single man who had pass the accepted hobby age (animated cartoon , cartoon, idol, computer game, and computer, etc...) However recently it has been used for foreigner Japanese women and married man. There is a negative opinion that "Otaku" is a person who is absorbed in subculture and Otaku is not understood the value easily from the general society. While there is positive insistence "it is a kind of expert who has the strong interest and knowledge in specific things"

Outside japan

Akihabara known as an electronics quarter forms a wide market and is active because of the spread of the personal computer and the game machine as the market of the commodity for "Otaku". In other countries, "Otaku" is used as a term of respect. it is a name that indicate a populer culture lover from Japan including animated cartoon(Anime), and the one to call oneself Otaku willingly excited, too. in Taiwan, it is used"train man" it means "Otaku". Because Japan has a movie about Otaku and its title is "train man".
