Before asking for a rename, please make sure that the username you want is allowed under the username policy. Do not create an account under the new name - bureaucrats cannot merge contributions from one account to another, only rename existing accounts.

I notice you edit on en.wiki as well. If you are going to be renaming that one as well you should know that there is already someone using the nickname newsfan on en.wiki so you wouldn't be able to rename your account there. Taking over an account

Notes

*The account you want to usurp (take over) should have no changes or major log entries to qualify for usurpation (though rare exceptions are made in some circumstances).

• Please do not request usurpation of another account if your own user account is less than several months old, or not used often. In order to ensure that usurped usernames be put to good use, we prefer only to accept requests from reasonably well-established users.
• Until further notice, if your account has made more than fifty thousand (50,000) edits, it will not be possible to rename you.
• Because of the unified login facility, you should check to ensure that your desired name is not already used on other Wikimedia projects, as this may prevent your request from being processed (see Wikipedia:Handling SUL conflicts for more details).
• The day of renaming depends on the day of notification. If you delay in placing the notification, there will be a delay in the processing of your request. For the sake of simplicity and swiftness of usurpation, notify your target immediately after placing a request.

• Log in to your present account if the request involves a rename. Requests filed by IPs are assumed to be for SUL purposes (since IPs cannot be renamed).
• Leave a message on the talk page of the target account (this template will do the trick: {{subst:usurpr}}) notifying the user of your request.

  Please do not e-mail the target account yourself. If this becomes necessary, a bureaucrat or clerk will do so.
