Ghiyās al-Dīn Abu al-Fath Omār ibn Ibrāhīm Khayyām Nishābūrī (Persian: غیاث الدین ابو الفتح عمر بن ابراهیم خیام نیشابوری) or Omar Khayyam (b. May 18, 1048 Nishapur, (Persia)–d. December 4, 1131) is a Persian poet, mathematician, astronomer who was born in Neyshapur in Pars.

He is best known for his poetry and it is because of translations of Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam by Edward Fitzgerald.
