On July 7 2023, a shooting happened at a mosque in Bekka Valley, Lebanon.[1] After the gunshots were heard, the state news agency reported that armed forces had arrived at the site.[1] One person was killed and three people were injured during the attack.[2] Initial information in the immediate aftermath of the shooting was that it was sparked by a personal dispute.[2][3] As troops attempted to restrain the gunman, he fired at them causing them to return gunfire, striking the perpetrator and wounding him.[2][4] The gunman was later identified as a Lebanese citizen named Ali Shibli, a school teacher.[4]
