Amphora (measure)

Amphora(/ˈæmfərə/; Ancient Greek: ἀμφορεύς, It was part of ancient roman system of measurement mostly used as a capacity's unit for liquids and grains. The term amphora was borrowed from the Greeks who used a ceramic container with pointy bottom to save grain and wine. An amphora is equal to 48 sextarii which is about 34 litres or 9 gallons in the US customary units and 7.494 gallons in the imperial British system of measurement.
