Area codes 614 and 380

Area code 614 and 380 are telephone area codes in the North American Numbering Plan. It covers the central region of Ohio, including the city of Columbus, the state capital. Area code 614 was established in 1947 as one of the original area codes and initially served the entire state of Ohio. As the population grew and the demand for phone numbers increased, area code 614 was split by 740 in 1996 and the overlaid by 380 on February 27, 2016.
