The arrondissement of Douai is an arrondissement of France, in the Nord department, Hauts-de-France region. Its capital is the city of Douai.

When the Nord department was created on 1790, the arrondissement of Douai was part of that original department.[2]

Geography

The arrondissement of Douai is in the central part of the Nord department. It borders with the Lille arrondissement to the north, the Valenciennes arrondissement to the east, the Cambrai arrondissement to the southeast and the Pas-de-Calais department to the south and west.

The arrondissement of Douai is the smallest arrondissement of the department with an area of 476.6 km2 (184.0 sq mi).[3] It has a population of 246,595 inhabitants for a population density of 517.4 inhabitants/km2.[4]
