Assassination of Robert F. Kennedy
The assassination of Robert F. Kennedy, a U.S. Senator and brother of U.S. President John F. Kennedy, who had been assassinated himself in 1963, took place shortly after midnight on June 5, 1968, in Los Angeles, California. He had just won the state's presidential orimary.
Kennedy was shot as he walked through the kitchen of the city's Ambassador Hotel and died at the Good Samaritan Hospital on June 6 during the operation to remove the bullet and bone fragments from his brain.[1] Sirhan Sirhan, a 24-year-old Palestinian immigrant,[2] was found guilty for Kennedy's murder and is now serving a life sentence for the assassination. As of 2011, Kennedy and Huey Long are the only U.S. Senators to be killed while in office.
