Axtell is a city in Marshall County, Kansas, United States. In 2010, 406 people lived there.[6]

The first settlements in Axtell were created in the 1860s.[7] The first post office in Axtell was created in December 1871.[8] Axtell was planned out in 1872 when the railroad was extended to that place. A railroad depot was built in 1872.[9] Axtell was named after Jesse Axtell, a railroad official.[10]

Axtell is at 39°52′21″N 96°15′26″W / 39.87250°N 96.25722°W / 39.87250; -96.25722 (39.872447, -96.257361).[11] The United States Census Bureau says that the city has a total area of 0.51 square miles (1.32 km2). All of it is land.[1]

This climatic region is typified by large seasonal temperature differences, with warm to hot (and often humid) summers and cold (sometimes severely cold) winters. The Köppen Climate Classification system says that Axtell has a humid continental climate, abbreviated "Dfa" on climate maps.[12]

The 2010 census says that there were 406 people, 178 households, and 111 families living in Axtell.[2]
