Prince Badr bin Abdul Mohsen

Badr bin Abdul Mohsen Al Saud (2 April 1949 – 4 May 2024) was a Saudi prince and poet. King Salman bin Abdulaziz, honored him by giving him the King Abdulaziz Medal in 2019. He died on 4 May 2024 in Paris at the age of 75.[1]

In 1973, he became the president of the Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts and served as the chairman of Saudi Poetry Organization.[2]

He also wrote texts and operetta for many local or national works, the most recent of which was in 2018 at Jenadriyah festival.[2]

Honors and recognitions[change | change source]

In 2019, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) honored him for his significant poetic, artistic, and cultural achievements over last 40 years during World Poetry Day.[3]

In March 2023, he was awarded the festival's Personality of the Year by Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah at the end of the twenty-eighth session of the Al-Qurain Cultural Festival in Kuwait.[4]
