Charles IX of France (June 27, 1550May 30, 1574) was a King of France and a member of the house of Valois.

Charles was born in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France, on June 27, 1550. His parents were Henry II of France and Catherine of Medici.

Marriage[change | change source]

Charles was married to Elizabeth of Austria on November 26, 1570. They had one child, Mary Elizabeth of France (October 27, 1572April 9, 1578), who died young.

Death[change | change source]

Charles died in Vincennes, France, on May 30, 1574. He is buried in the Saint Denis Basilica. The next King was Henry III of France.
