The Desna (Russian: Десна; Ukrainian: Десна) is a river in Russia and Ukraine. It is a left tributary of the Dnieper. The Desna has 1,130 km (700 mi) long. The drainage basin is 88,900 km2 (34,300 sq mi).

The river starts in the Smolensk Oblast, Russia. Its source is southeast of Smolensk and not far from Yelnya in a forest near the village of Naleti. The river flows south towards the city of Bryansk. After its confluence with the Seym near the Ukrainian border. It flows through Chernihiv before reaching its mouth at the Dnieper River near Kyiv.
