Diane Ladd

Diane Ladd (born Rose Diane Ladner; November 29, 1935 November 3, 2025) was an American movie and television actress.[1] She was nominated for several major awards. She won a BAFTA Award in 1976 and a Golden Globe Award in 1980. Her best known roles were in Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore (1974), Chinatown (1974), Alice (1980), Wild at Heart (1990), Rambling Rose (1991), Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman (1993), Grace Under Fire (1994) and Touched by an Angel (1997). Her career began in 1956 and she retired in 2022.

Ladd was born in Laurel, Mississippi. She was married to actor Bruce Dern and she was the mother of actress Laura Dern.[2]

Ladd was supportive of Jesse Jackson's 1988 presidential campaign.[3]

Ladd died at her home in Ojai, California on November 3, 2025 from respiratory failure caused by idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, at the age of 89.[4][5]
