Ding Dong is a hamlet in Bell County, Texas.
In the early 1930s, a man named Zulis Bell and his nephew Bert Bell operated a country store along the Lampasas River in central Texas in an area that was known as McBryde Crossing.[1] Ding Dong is known for its unusal name because the store had a sign painted by C.C. Hoover with bells on it. Since it had bells on it, it had "Ding Dong" written on it, which is now the community's namesake. The sign was later removed.[1][2]
Ding Dong is located on Farm to Market Road 195 along the Lampasas River,[3] 8 miles (13 kilometres) south of Killeen, Texas in southwestern Bell County, served by the Killeen Independent School District.
A notable person born in Ding Dong is Hugh Farr, fiddler for the Sons of the Pioneers.[1]
