El Llano (The Plain) is a Dominican municipality in the Elías Piña province.

The municipality had, in 2010, a total population of 4,193: 2,161 men and 2,032 women. The urban population was 66% of the total population.[1]

El Llano became a municipality by the law 687 of 2 July 1974. Before that date, it was part of Comendador.[2]

Geography[change | change source]

El Llano has an area of 17.1 km2 (6.6 sq mi). It is to the east of Comendador, next to the San Juan province.

The main economic activity of the municipality is farming. The main crop is rice.
