This is a classic example of cystic fibrosis associated bronchiectasis.
Gross appearance of the cut surface of the lung shows dilated (ectatic) bronchi, some of them filled with tenacious secretions. The dilatation of the bronchi and bronchioles is about 4 times the normal size and they can be seen beneath the pleural surface, In normal lungs bronchi cannot be seen at the lung periphery,
