Gamification is making an activity that isn't a game (a playful or competitive activity) more like a game. The word comes from "game" and "-ification", a suffix meaning "The process of becoming". It is done by applying game principles and design to make that activity more engaging (interesting or fun). If an activity is already a game, it can't become a game.
