The greenbone (Odax pullus) is a species of ray-finned fish, a weed whiting from the family Odacidae, which is found around New Zealand. It is also known as the butterfish. This kind of fish belongs to the genus Odax.

It has a variety of nicknames such as butterfish, weed whiting, or false wrasse. It is also called the common weed whiting because it is the type species of the genus Odax.
