Joseph Sargent (born Giuseppe Danielle Sorgente, July 22, 1925 – December 22, 2014) was an American movie and television director and producer. He was best known for his movies White Lightning, MacArthur, Nightmares, Jaws: The Revenge, and The Taking of Pelham One Two Three. He won four Emmy Awards.

Sargent died of complications from heart disease at his home in Malibu, California, on December 22, 2014. He was 89.[1]
