The name Josephine [ joh-zuh-feen, -suh- ][1] is a female given name. Josephine is a timeless name that has been well-liked for hundreds of years. It is the feminine version of the name Joseph and has a meaning of "God will increase" or "may Jehovah add/give increase."[2] There are many variants. The name is a female version of Joseph (which is a Hebrew version of Yosef). There are many celebrities with the name Josephine and related forms, although the name is only marginally popular in the United States.
