Kelly Ann Bates (18 May 1978 – 16 April 1996) was an English girl who was abducted, raped, abused, neglected, malnourished, starved, dehydrated, torture murdered. The abduction, rape, abuse, and torture murder was prepretrated for about 1 month by her abusive boyfriend, James Patterson Smith, in his house, before he torture murdered her by drowning her in his bathtub.

Kelly Ann Bates was born in Hattersley, Greater Manchester, England, United Kingdom. Her mother Margaret Bates was born in 1955, and died in 2020.
