Kvalsund Tunnel entrance

The Kvalsund Tunnel (Norwegian: Kvalsundtunnelen) is a road tunnel that connects two islands in Tromsø Municipality, Norway. It links Kvaløya and Ringvassøya through the Kvalsundet strait, between the towns of Sørhelltaren and Nordhella. The tunnel is 1,650 metres (5,410 ft) long and was built in 1988 to replace a ferry that used to operate between the islands. The tunnel is located 56 metres (184 ft) below sea level.[1]
