The predecessor of the Leipzig Opera, the Neues Theater (New Theatre) which was destroyed during the air raids in World War II.

The Leipzig Opera is an opera house and opera company in Leipzig. It was created in 1693.[1] Georg Philipp Telemann was the opera house's director from 1703 to 1705.[2] The opera house was closed when Johann Sebastian Bach worked in Leipzig.[3]
