"Living Next Door to Alice" is a 1972 song co-written by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman. It was originally released as a single by Australian band New World and went to number 35 in Australia. It was made famous by British band Smokie in 1976 for their third studio album Midnight Café. It went to number 1 in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Ireland, the Netherlands and Norway.
